TEDxCincinnatiChange: Global Ideas, Local Experience

Imagine an all-day comfortable and casual dinner party, peopled with amazing individuals collectively interested in changing their world, held in a historic raw venue in the middle of a transformation. At TEDxCincinnatiChange, you will be treated to a TED-like exchange of ideas featuring inspirational videos, brilliant speakers and mind-blowing conversation. TEDxCincinnatiChange will be part of a global series of TEDxChange events in April featuring presenters dedicated to making positive changes in our world.

The theme of our Cincinnati event is Big Picture; small details. Over a dozen local speakers and performers will share their ideas on important issues of a glocal nature–that is, issues with both a global and a local impact. The event will not only focus on the big picture of how to make our world a better place, it will also zero in on the small details required to make those big ideas work. Participants will also have real opportunities to meet with presenters, share their own ideas and see where new paths lead.

In all, over 100 communities across the world will unite through TEDxChange to collectively tackle glocal issues affecting us all. Presentations from the signature TEDxChange event in Berlin will also be shared at TEDxCincinnatiChange via webcast replay.

Breakfast and lunch are included in the TEDxCincinnatiChange experience. The event will be comfortable and casual, with simple but real food served and casual attire welcome. Participants will also be invited for a free Community Roundtable Dinner immediately following the event. Your attendance at TEDxCincinnatiChange will be a truly unique experience that will unleash new ideas, inspired and informed.

The location for the event is: St. Michael’s Art Sanctuary in Lower Price Hill. St. Michael’s Art Sanctuary is located at 2110 St. Michael Street, Cincinnati, Ohio 45204.

Nominate a Speaker/Performer
We are seeking inspiring speakers and performers to share a story or performance with us about their experiences, pursuits and passions. Click here to nominate a potential speaker for this and our other upcoming TEDxCincinnati events.

Registration/Admission
You must register for an “Admission Pass” to the TEDxCincinnatiChange event. We believe in giving access to many, not just a few. With that in mind, we offer a sliding-scale registration fee ranging from $20 to $100–pay what you can afford. If you can afford a bit more, you will help us offset costs for those who cannot.

Registration includes the entire day’s experience, including the internationally streamed videos from Berlin, over a dozen local speakers and performers, a real chance to meet the presenters and discuss ideas, plus breakfast and lunch. You also get FREE access to the Community Roundtable Dinner immediately following the TEDxCincinnatiChange event.

What you’ll find at every TEDx event:
The content and design of each TEDx event is unique and developed independently, but all TEDx events have several features in common.

  • TED’s celebrated format: A suite of short, carefully prepared talks, demonstrations and performances (live, or just TEDTalks videos from TED.com) on a wide range of subjects to foster learning, inspiration and wonder–and to provoke conversations that matter
  • TEDTalks videos: A minimum of two pre-recorded talks from the acclaimed TEDTalks video series (these talks are available free on TED.com)
  • Bias-free programming: Lack of any commercial, religious or political agenda

TEDx was created in the spirit of TED’s mission, “ideas worth spreading.” The program is designed to give communities, organizations and individuals the opportunity to stimulate dialogue through TED-like experiences at the local level.

Special Acknowledgement
The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is a strategic partner of the TEDx program, and together we teamed up for a very special project called TEDxChange–an initiative devoted to ideas worth spreading in the areas of global health and development. The TEDxChange team works with TEDx organizers around the world to help facilitate meaningful discussions on topics such as vaccines, polio, malaria, HIV/AIDS, maternal and newborn child health, and agricultural development. The TEDxChange initiative also includes a global signature event convened by Melinda Gates and broadcast across the TEDx community.
